More About River Cruises
When is the best time to take a European river cruise?, which are the most popular itineraries? The season is nearly 10 months of the year, and a river cruise in Europe offers different experiences depending on when you visit. The holiday Christmas market cruises in fall are certainly popular, and while the weather in Europe is colder, the wintry chill, wine, glog and good cheer offers a festive time unlike any other season.
Weather also affects Europe's river cruises. There is flooding of the rivers to contend with at times, or low water levels that don't permit the river cruise boats to transit their entire itinerary. In that instance river cruise lines use motorcoaches to provide sightseeing to guests. The most popular time for Europe river cruises is considered to be May, September and October.
Just got back from a wonderful river cruise in France. This is the fourth trip arranged for us by Mindy Crenshaw and all the preparations have been flawless.
My top pick is my voyage on Uniworld's Catherine. The ship has the most up-to-date appointments: the most elegant décor (Murano glass) and original art all over the ship. The staff was caring, efficient and went out of their way. The food and wine was gourmet quality. In all of the years I have worked in travel, this was the best trip I have ever taken.
