Horst's Story
I was born and raised in Germany and began my travels through Europe during school study trips and vacations. These trips sparked an interest in meeting interesting people from the different countries I’ve visited, such as Africa, Antarctica, the Amazon and Galapagos. Since 1963 I’ve specialized in arranging custom trips for clients in an efficient and rewarding manner.
Of the many exotic destinations in the world, cruises to Antarctica, the Amazon and the Galapagos, and travel to Thailand and Bali are among my favorites. Southern Africa, however, holds a special place for me. I’ve made over 30 visits to Southern Africa, including all of the major national game reserves, and most of the important private reserves in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa.
During more than 40 years in the travel business, I have been an instructor for the Institute of Certified Travel Agents (now The Travel Institute) and a speaker at national forums and luxury travel seminars. I am a proud Lifetime Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Life Member of the Travel Institute, and a Certified South African Specialist.
I enjoy photography, gardening and collecting primitive art – all of which has been inspired by my travels. I also like to live by the saying “life is not a dress rehearsal.”
