Budapest Update

Nancy Decker Davidson in Budapest

When you arrive into Budapest on a river cruise ship from the south and round the bend you receive a view of the city that is stunning.  While ashore, make sure you pay a visit to the sites of Buda Castle Hill, Fishermen’s Bastion, Matthias Church, the City Park and many other.  Also don't miss the sail on the river at night, when all of the major buildings along the river are lit up and offer an amazing view.

My home during my visit to Budapest was the Le Meridien Budapest.  Great location from which to walk everywhere -- just round the corner and you are on the long pedestrian street that takes you to the Central Market Hall.  The Market Hall is amazing for shopping, tasting local cuisine and watching people.  I had a deluxe room, which I highly recommend for its size and comfort.  The food at hotel was of good quality. The room looked a bit tired and outdated, and I understand they hotel will be undergoing a renovation in the near future.  The staff is also wonderful and was very helpful when you had questions or needed anything.

I was pleased to pay a visit and have lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest.  What a gorgeous property!  They took several years to restore the building to its former glory and it shows it.  From the stained glass windows, to the floors and the chandelier in the lobby, you have rarely seen a more gorgeous hotel.  The lead-in category superior rooms are an excellent size and the junior suites quite large.  The hotel has several different category suite to choose from and offers anything one might need. Try to reserve a River View room for your stay.
