Dubai, Part 4

After departing Dar a few of us chose to spend a couple of nights in Dubai. We selected the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, reserving “”tower rooms,”” which included daily breakfast at Mosaico Restaurant, meet and greet service at the airport and round-trip airport transfers. We also contacted our preferred destination operator in Dubai to arrange our tours.

Upon arrival we were met outside our arrival gate by a Jumeirah Towers representative who took us through the terminal to customs and to a special line reserved for VIP’s. How wonderful to not have to stand in a customs line.

Upon check-in at the hotel we were assigned rooms on the “”ladies floor”” of the hotel, where all the rooms are designed for women. They have plush pink bath robes and towels, small perfume bottles on your pillow, rose petals for your bath, wine, fruit, a small refrigerator in the bath to cool your lotions and/or moisturizers after a hot day in the desert, a yoga mat with a yoga DVD and more… Jumeirah takes that extra step with luxury accommodations!

We were up early in the morning for our day which began with a city tour that included a visit to the gold souk and a small boat ride across the river. We proceeded to the Burj Al Arab for a private tour of this spectacular hotel. Everything here was a wow! Afterwards we had a site inspection of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, which I recommend for clients vacationing here. They have beautiful beach facilities, along with spacious rooms and private villas (1 and 2 bedroom) that have their own plunge pools. We had a fabulous lunch at their restaurant on the sand.

We were driven to the desert to see the Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa. What a beautiful resort and spa in which to unwind. The rooms are decorated with an Arabian flair, are spacious and each has its own plunge pool looking out over the desert dunes. The spa is rated as one of the best in the world and I could see why!

That evening we were treated to a desert dune ride in a 4X4 vehicle, stopped and met by a Bedouin gentleman with camels and a falcon. Following our desert tour we stopped at an oasis in the desert for dinner sitting on carpets and feasting on Arabic food. It was a beautiful end to a perfect day in the UAE.

The following morning we departed for home. Our local supplier has staff at the airport that assists with check in. The Jumeirah driver called them just before we arrived. She met us at the curb and escorted us to Emirates where we were put in a separate VIP line. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff at all of the Jumeirah hotels and our local supplier. They truly deliver 5-star service.
