The Four Seasons Costa Rica is beautifully located and spread out on the northern tip of the peninsula of Papagayo, surrounded by tropical dry forest, approx. 45minutes away from Liberia airport.
The resort has two beaches, one on the Papagayo Bay side, where most of the beach and water sport activities are offered versus the beach on the Pacific side, which ismore quiet.
When it comes to the accommodations it is all about location. The peninsula is formed like a big ""Y"", so some accommodations face the bay side, some the Pacific side. The resort has 155 rooms, suites and villas, as well as two- and three- bedroom private residences which are all nicely furnished in Costa Rican style with warm wooden colors and local art.
The regular rooms are located in three different buildings. The two buildings located on the bay side are mainly for travelers with families. The building located on the ocean side is particularly for adults and honeymooners. Very important to know regarding the view is that the resort does not really sell their rooms as water views, since they are located within the forest and during the wet season, the vegetation in front of the rooms may be too thick to even see the water. Their categories vary on which level (1 through 4) their rooms are located.
The rooms have huge private patios, where you can comfortably sit at any time of day since it is protected from mosquitoes with a screen. All rooms are going to be updated with flat screen TV's and new dressers –an ongoing process. IPod docking stations are avail upon request, and the resort is planning to put those in all rooms in the near future.
While the rooms are within walking distance to pools, lobby and restaurants, the canopy suites and private residences are beautifully built on the hillside, further away from the main resort and may require a golf cart transfer offered by Four Seasons Staff.
The one bedroom canopy suites have bay view. They can be booked with or without private plunge pools. The private plunge pools are beautiful and well worth it! The three-bedroom suites have either bay or ocean view, a private plunge pool and are perfect for family travel. The two- and three-bedroom private residence villas are slightly larger than the regular villas in terms of plunge pool, terrace and living area. Another great option for families are the private “Pacifica” residences, which are three bedroom condos with a full kitchen.”
The resort has two pools, one regular pool in the main area of the resort with a Jacuzzi lagoon pool close by, and one adults-only pool on the ocean side. The Four Seasons Costa Rica offers a great children’s program, a teen program, a very nice spa and fitness center. In addition to that the resort guests can enjoy a beautiful Arnold Palmer golf course with spectacular views from the peninsula, or go to the Beach Club at no additional charge. The Beach Club is approx. 10 minutes away from the resort (shuttle available at all times). There you can find a restaurant, outdoor bar, sports bar, a pool, spa and another beautiful beach. This Beach Club has a beautiful setting for destination wedding ceremonies, whereas the Four Seasons Costa Rica resort is the perfect spot for a beautiful romantic honeymoon.
Within the main resorts you have two restaurants to chose from (Italian & seafood or regional cuisine) as well as an open air bar or a steak house approx 10 minutes away located at the golf course.
With the Four Seasons' outstanding service and attention to detail, the resort is perfect for pure relaxation, enjoying the beach and having delicious local cuisine. Be aware of dress codes that may be required at certain property restaurants. As for activities you can go on a romantic sunset cruise or do zip-lining, the popular and exciting and adventurous experience in Costa Rica – zipping through the trees on a cable while watching the beautiful surrounding nature.
For the adventurous travelers I would recommend a trip through the beautiful country of Costa Rica, to see the volcanoes, tropical forests, animals, nature and finish a perfect adventurous vacation with a romantic and quiet 3- or 4- night stay at the Four Seasons before flying back home.
