A Tauck Cruise Along the Danube

Marsha Frame and Marilyn Hove on a Danube river cruise with Tauck.
Body:
We were fortunate to experience a Tauck river cruise on the MS Joy’s itinerary of the Danube Reflections from Regensburg to Vienna. Now, we know why Tauck has such a following… it was perfection! We could not find fault with the staterooms, service, food and drink choices, entertainment, and the fabulous staff.

Although the ships are built and owned by Scylla, the crew and staff are trained by Tauck and are the cream of the crop. The ships are new with state-of-the-art technology, sleek décor, and an open, airy, and contemporary feel. The staterooms are very spacious and range in size from 150 to 300 square feet depending on the category you choose. The Master Suites are appointed with a double closet, which is perfect for stowing your many outfits in preparation for the always-changing weather. The separate sitting area is the ideal private space to unwind after a full day of exploring.

Their dining experience is equal to none. Guests with food allergies or dietary needs can order their meals without any worries because each menu has a numbered scale to show which allergens are in the dish. Their dairy-free, non-gluten options were delicious. They also have a great selection of non-alcoholic beers and wines from both local and well-known breweries and wineries. Each meal was like a food wine pairing experience. The chef and staff were attentive and ensured everyone was happy with each meal. They remembered guests’ coffee and cocktail orders and knew who had special meal requests. The main dining room offers full table service and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For an additional dining option, Arthur’s is open all day with more casual and local fare, a full bar, and a wonderful selection of coffee and teas.

The entertainment is local and always such a treat at the end of a day of touring. We even had a special dance party night with a DJ, disco ball, and photo booth.  Upon our return home, we received postcards with our photo booth picture that thanked us for sailing with them.

The tour options were perfect. They offered a walking or driving tour and a bicycle tour that always included a little surprise whether it be a stop for a coffee and pastry in Bratislava or a stop at a bakery the Cesky Krumlov to sample the homemade gingerbread. We felt like special guests at each museum and tour we went to and never had to wait in the long lines. The red ropes were always dropped for us. While we were touring in the Czech Republic, we were given 20 euros for lunch to try some of the local restaurants since we would be away from the ship for lunch. Upon return to the ship, we were always greeted with a warm smile welcoming us home and offerings of a cold towel, refreshment, and something sweet.

All in all, we felt this was an unparalleled river cruise experience. For your next European river cruise, contact TravelStore to get it started.
