On a recent trip back to South Africa to attend a conference, I enjoyed visiting some of Cape Town's wonderful accommodation choices.
I had the privilege staying at this hotel during my conference, and enjoyed a corner room where I had a view of the mountain and the ocean. One of TravelStore's preferred Signature hotels with exclusive amenities, The 12 Apostles is a Red Carnation hotel, a company that is all about the service, accommodations and food, and the hotel didn’t disappoint. One of the best staffs in any hotel I have stayed in. Always willing to help you or find something you need. The hotel is well known for their gorgeous ocean views and spa. Many locals dine or enjoy the spa at the property. Located outside Cape Town, the drive into the city is going to depend on the traffic, and will take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to and from the waterfront. I find it great to be able to enjoy the city and then drive out to your hotel and have a quiet evening enjoying the view.
What a beautiful boutique property in Cape Town. The style and décor reminded me of New Orleans with a cobblestone street. The 15 rooms are a good size with air conditioning and across from the hotel you will find their apartments which has its own breakfast room and guests can enjoy the facilities of the hotel. Daily breakfast and wifi are included in the rate. Located near the Mt. Nelson you are within walking distance to several restaurants and shops. This is another of TravelStore's preferred Signature hotels with exclusive amenities.
I haven’t visited the Ellerman House in a while and made a point of visiting while I was in the area. Located in a Cape Town suburb, the property is still gorgeous, and the villas and modern art museum are amazing. From the hotel you have fantastic views of the ocean from most of the rooms, pool and dining areas. Dining is inside or outside whereever you want whenever you want. The hotel is affiliated with Relais & Chateaux, and I had the opportunity to enjoy one of the best meals during my time in the city. Rooms are well appointed and don’t forget to enjoy the spa if you stay here. If you are hungry you can visit the properties pantry which offers snacks and drinks 24-hours a day, all included in the rate. And if you are into wine it has one of the largest collection of South African vintage wines in their cellar.
The grand pink lady is still stunning and has so much history within its walls. The rooms are classic style, some with Juliet balconies. The property has a fantastic kids program/play room, spa, gym and two pools. One pool is for families while the other is for over 16-year old’s. If you require a suite, I highly recommend the Helmsley Suites wing, where the first Jewish service was held in Cape Town. Or if you are on honeymoon, I recommend staying in a garden cottage. At the Mt. Nelson you will find some of the best dining in Cape Town and the hotel is well known for High Tea on the patio. This is also one of our preferred Signature hotels with exclusive amenities.
The newest kid on the block, The Silo Is a part of the Royal Portfolio collection of hotels, well known for their five star accommodations, service and cuisine. It took them three years to restore an old grain silo on the Cape Town waterfront, and the hotel is just a little over one year old, and also in our preferred hotel collection. Installed on the first five floors you will find the new Museum of Contemporary Art Africa Zeitz (MOCAA). Make your way to the sixth floor where the hotel occupies six floors, and you will find yourself in the hotel's main restaurant and reception. The 28 rooms are large and have windows that bulge outward to take in the views. Not to worry, they have provided many different shades for privacy. Included in those 28 rooms are a one-bedroom suite, two royal suites, four family suites, seven deluxe suites, six superior suites and eight silo rooms. On the rooftop you will find the property’s pool and bar, with the most amazing views of Table Mountain and the city (photo up top). The hotel has become popular with the locals and only guests are allowed at the pool in the morning and half of the restaurant sitting is set aside for guests. They want to make sure that their guests can dine whenever they want and be able to enjoy the facilities of the hotel.
