Is The New Delta One Lounge at LAX as Good as They Say?

Delta Airlines continues to deliver on making business travel luxurious and – dare we say – desirable. For frequent and infrequent business travelers alike, the Delta One Check-In process and Delta One Lounge are perfect examples of “Bleisure Travel” in action. A combination of the traditionally separate Business and Leisure travel sectors, “Bleisure” travelers see air transportation not simply as a means to an end, but as an opportunity for comfort and an immersive experience. We experienced the Delta One Lounge firsthand and can your burning question: Is the new Delta One Lounge at LAX as good as they say?

The Delta One Check-In experience sets the tone for the day. The entrance is completely separate from the hustle and bustle of standard security lines full of frenzied, exhausted travelers rushing to and from gates. The moment the Delta One threshold is crossed, you find yourself in a lobby more akin to a chic New York cocktail lounge than an airport waiting area. Comfy chairs, well-appointed modern art, golden light fixtures, and a variety of refreshments invite you to relax and decompress before subjecting yourself to the tedious process of going through airport security. Little do you know, the Delta One Check-In process makes the typically tedious security screening a quick and easy breeze; you are in and out of the x-ray machine and luggage scanner in a matter of minutes. No hustle, no bustle.

After passing through security, you may enter the bright and airy Delta Sky Club. The club offers a multitude of seating areas to suit any traveler’s needs: private booths for business calls, a hip dining area for a bite between flights, comfortable lounge areas for answering an email or two, etc. An extensive marble bar displays a variety of quick meal options for you to peruse, including fresh wraps, summer salads, and delicious California sushi.

The real gem of the Delta Sky Club is the open-air bar. You can pull up a seat and sip a craft cocktail while watching Delta planes taxi in and out of the bay; it’s surprisingly peaceful, even meditative. Or, if you care less about the comings and goings of the Delta fleet, swivel around in your seat to catch a game on the TV or chat with the friendly bar staff. Our bartender of the day made a mean Manhattan.

Heading over to the main Delta One Lounge proper, you are now greeted by a gorgeous, full-service restaurant with a rare-earth mineral color scheme of emerald green, rich mahogany, and sparkling gold. If not for the arrival to LAX by shuttle or car service, this lounge could easily be mistaken for a downtown LA hot spot far from the international travel hub. We must also make a point here to praise the staff for their wonderful welcome. Each member paused in their duties to greet the Lounge guests individually. It is the little, personal details like this that make an impact and can turn a bad travel day into a great one. Another much-appreciated Delta One Lounge feature is the full-body massage chair room. Equipped with top-of-the-line, plush massage recliners, you can relax in your own private pod and feel a full day of client meetings simply melt away.

We are very pleased with our partnership with Delta and the continued exceptional quality the airline offers business travelers. From the zero gravity nap pods and massage chairs to the full-service restaurant and open-air bar, business travelers are guaranteed to arrive at their destinations relaxed, refreshed, and ready to take on the day anew. Our answer to the query of this review is…yes, most definitely the Delta One Lounge is as good as they say.

Final note: the entry way into the Delta One Lounge displays a piece of pop art sporting the words “Darling, you know I only fly Delta One.” With such ease of travel and a variety of comforts that allow busy professionals to arrive at their destinations fully reinvigorated, it is safe to say the sentiment is well-warranted.
