Holland America’s Around the World Cruise

We began our Holland America cruise with a stay in Sydney at the Shangri-La Hotel. What a view! The hotel was right in the popular Rocks area and within walking distance to the cruise port.

We enjoyed a Sydney Harbor cruise one day and a ferry to Manly Island to see the surfers and many young tourists. We also enjoyed a special tour of the Sydney Opera House, which was very interesting and a worthwhile visit.

Our next adventure was boarding our Holland America cruise on the Amsterdam. This was part of a 110-day world cruise round trip from Fort Lauderdale. The President of Holland America joined the ship for five days and we had many special events onboard, which is typical of world cruises.

Our itinerary was from Sydney to Hong Kong, with stops in Cairns, Darwin, Bali, Java and Jakarta, and finally arriving in Hong Kong.

Because this was part of the annual world cruise, there were many special dinners and events on the ship.

One of the unique events included bringing onboard tons of sand to have a beach party around the pool on the ship! They even had three young life guards to help with the festivities. During the cruise we were able to enjoy cooking classes, classical music, a wonderful piano bar and cabaret shows.

Holland America did a wonderful job with their service, flowers, entertainment, lectures and food.

I am certainly pleased to recommend Holland America to my clients, or assist you if planning a voyage.
