Mariner of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean cruise line’s Voyager-class ships that introduced a radical new cruise ship design, has been brought to the West Coast. For the first time the West Coast has a ship that offers a unique shopping promenade, an ice-skating rink, in addition to rock-climbing wall, miniature golf course, in-line skating, full-court basketball, an incredible games room, and so much more.

Accommodations are comfortable and offer a wide range of stateroom options, including family suite staterooms. There are various dining options. The three three-level main dining room is stunning. The two alternative dining venues, Chops and Portofino, both offer a fabulous dining experience (additional charge of $20/$25 applies). The buffet offers a variety of selections, including Asian- and Indian-inspired fare, salad bar, carvery and more. All this in addition to a Johnny Rockets, Ben & Jerry’s and a Seattle’s Best onboard!

The 17 bar and lounges include Vintages, a fine wine tasting bar, and the Wig & Gavel Pub featuring ales, sherry’s and port. The ice skating show was fabulous (brought back memories of attending The Ice Capades as a kid.) The main stage show had energy.

The kids area is large offering different spaces for children of different ages, and with a fabulous game room suitable for all ages. The Mariner of the Seas is a great ship for a 7-day Mexican Riviera cruise, and a terrific vacation value. There are some spectacular deals available on these ocean cruises if you take advantage early.
