Canyon Ranch Spa Tucson – A Relaxing Girls” Getaway

I’m back from a wonderful visit to Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona, and have to share what a great experience I had. I met my best friend from college, and the maid of honor in my wedding, for a girls’ getaway weekend. I was really excited to get there but was worried about everything going on back home as a huge ice storm had hit the Dallas area where I live and shut down the city.

After being at Canyon Ranch for just a day, I started to unwind and take in all the activities and lessons that Canyon Ranch is all about. Suddenly all those issues that were stressing me out did not seem as important. My return flight had been canceled and I was going to extend my stay, but another day at Canyon Ranch is the best problem I have ever encountered.

The property is beautiful, serene and all about nature. It is located where the Sonoran Desert meets the Catalina Mountains and there are cacti everywhere in the gorgeous landscape. From the moment I was picked up at the airport by a driver waiting with a sign bearing my name, I was treated like gold. The rooms were absolutely perfect with decor indicative of Arizona. The special pillow menu allows for anybody to get a great night’s sleep, one of the very important components of life I learned while I was there.

The entire resort embraces an atmosphere of holistic medicine, which extends to all the activities, so I forced myself to try some things I would probably not have done at home. I took a Zumba class entitled world beat, during which we exercised to live drummers. I also went to a presentation on numerology, played tennis, and I learned how to play Walleyball, a fun combination of volleyball and racquetball which I loved and ended up playing every day. We participated in restoration yoga each afternoon, played some fun bingo for great prizes, went to a beading class, learned about the science of weight loss, and so much more. The number of activities is quite varied and offers something for everyone.

We also indulged ourselves at the spa complex, which is huge. Besides all the wonderful exercise classes and gym activities, the spa itself is amazing.

Each night our ritual was to go to the spa and enjoy the steam room, sauna, inhalation room, jacuzzi and then shower and go back to the room ready for a good nights sleep.

Canyon Ranch offers so many unique spa treatments that I can’t describe them all, but I had an oxygen infused facial which uses oxygen to infuse whatever product you are interested in under the skin to make it 1000 times more affective. One of my biggest pet peeves about spas is when the therapist tries to sell you the products used during your treatment. I was very relaxed and there was no sales pressure at all from the therapist during my treatment, which was wonderful. They do offer all top of the line products that are used during your treatment, however, and they are available for purchase from the spa should you so desire.

The food at Canyon Ranch is absolutely amazing. We were offered a choice of the main dining room or the Double U Cafe. Everything is homemade with the finest healthy ingredients and all menu items have all the nutritional information on them. My favorites were the Canyon Ranch muesli for breakfast and I loved the citrus spinach salad topped with grilled salmon. They even offer cooking classes each day in their demo kitchen and the recipes for every food item they serve are available to take home.

I had a relaxing yet invigorating experience at Canyon Ranch and learned a lot about where to seek joy in my life.

I learned that if I move a little more, eat a little less, and get a good night’s sleep – life feels much better! I am very excited to start sending my clients to Canyon Ranch for a healthy vacation.

Contact me when you’re ready to go. Now that I’ve been there I would love to help you plan this wonderful experience.
