Family Getaway to Omni La Costa Spa & Resort

I just returned from the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. This is a perfect resort for families, offering something for everyone. I was there with my daughter, son-in-law and my three-year-old granddaughter for a little R&R. The resort feature a variety of accommodations that include rooms, suites and villas.

The luxurious rooms are spacious, with the smallest room starting at 425-square feet and going up to the 3,011- square foot Presidential Suite. We stayed in a 690-square foot La Costa room with two queen beds, a spacious sitting area and a patio that led to the fenced in garden pools. Very convenient when you have a little one anxious to go swimming.

Our stay included our exclusive Signature amenities that included a $60.00 breakfast credit each day at Bistro 65, a $50.00 resort credit per day, valet parking, as well as an upgrade to the next room category if available at check-in. We opted out of the upgrade as that room was not ready and the La Costa room was.

Breakfast in Bistro 65 was delicious and you could either order off of the menu or enjoy their buffet with eggs made to order. They had a separate area that contained a variety of gluten free breads, cereals, etc. They also had gluten free options such as pancakes on the menu. The Bistro 65 staff was very welcoming and attentive and the food was very good. They are very patient with children who seem to not be able to sit still.

If you are looking for something to do besides enjoying one of the
eight pools, waterslides or “chilling” in a Jacuzzi, there are many options at the resort. You can play golf on one of two PGA championship courses, go to the Athletic Club, where you could work out on state-of-the-art equipment, take one of the various fitness classes, or customize a workout with a personal trainer.

The world headquarters for The Chopra Center is located at the resort. Here you can participate in workshops, meditation sessions and yoga treatments. The center attracts guests who seek to gain emotional, spiritual and physical balance. If that isn’t enough to do, you could go for a treatment at the #1 Wellness Spa, as rated by Spa Magazine, at The Spa at La Costa. You can choose from facial treatments, body treatments and salon services that will make you feel & look good.

For children and their parents there are programs and events for all ages. At check-in you are given a weekly resort guide that lists days & times for the many activities available for free or for a fee. Kidtopia Kid’s Club provides counselor-supervised, educational and entertaining programs for children 6 months – 12 years. There are also fitness and dance classes for teenagers which take place at the Athletic Club.

When you are hungry there are a variety of venues to help fill the emptiness in your belly. Bistro 65, a casual contemporary dining option has seating indoors & outdoors overlooking the golf course. It is open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner daily.

Diversions Sports Lounge is open daily from 11am – midnight and is next to Bistro 65. Marketplace is in the heart of the resort plaza where you can get your favorite Peet’s coffee or tea, quick meals or snacks such as breakfast wraps, sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, burgers, pizza as well as Moo time ice cream and other desserts. It is open 24 hours daily to help with anytime the munchies hit you. There is also the Spa Café for a healthy meal and Splash Café offering light, fresh food by the pool. And for those who prefer not to leave their accommodation, there is in-room dining, of course. Opening this summer will be Bob’s Steak & Chop House, a traditional American prime steak house.

So if you have exhausted all of your choices at the resort, there are many other local attractions. You are very close to Legoland, and a short distance from Birch Aquarium, SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. And for those who need to get their retail therapy fix, there are eight shops at the resort, and it is a short hop to the Carlsbad Outlet Mall.

Whether you are going away for a little romance, for health & well-being, family get togethers or just some rest & relaxation, Omni La Costa is awaiting — and don’t forget your exclusive resort amenities when you book it with us!
