Leela Palace in Udaipur and Mumbai

After our visit in Delhi, we made our way to Udaipur and stayed at The Leela Palace Udaipur.

This was my favorite property for several reasons.

The first is its location on Lake Pichola with a view of the mountains.

You are driven from the airport to the lake where you board a small boat that takes you across the lake to the hotel.

And there, another wonderful India greeting awaits that gives you the feeling of arriving at a true India Palace.

A boutique property with just 82 rooms and suites, and all of them have a view of the lake.

They have several suite categories and I was impressed by their two royal suites that come with a private pool.

I recommend the lake view rooms with a balcony which have the bed facing the balcony so you can take in that view night and day.

And the spa!

One of the most gorgeous I have seen, and they offer your own private spa tent or have suites for couples that can be reserved for a day.

Each couple suite has its own private pool and dining area.

The hotel offers two dining venues and one bar which provide yummy cuisine.

I found this property romantic and relaxing and I recommend you end your India tour in Udaipur.

This is my second visit to India, and I fell in love with Udaipur.

Filled with great history, you must visit the City Palace and within its walls is a crystal museum that rivals other museum collections.

Mostly importantly, Udaipur is a safe city where you can walk and mingle with the locals.

Shopping is fantastic if you want silk garments, silver jewelry and other India handicrafts.

We found a great shop that will sew you a garment in a day and deliver it to the hotel for very reasonable prices.

I can’t wait to return and wander the streets of Udaipur.

Our last stop was a short visit in Mumbai and we stayed at the Leela Mumbai.

Located just five minutes from the International airport, it is obviously a great location for international departures.

The hotel has 391 guest rooms and suites with the standard rooms starting at almost 270 square feet.

All are well appointed with good sized bathrooms.

You have access to five different dining venues and, with the hotel being located so close to the international airport, they cater to those guests that are arriving and leaving at different times of the day and night.

The hotel also has a nice outdoor swimming pool, gym and spa.

And of course you will find gorgeous gardens to enjoy.
