Peru Trip: Client Feedback

We share a report from clients…

We loved our Peru trip and had a fantastic time. The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, helpful, protective, fun!

Carlos picked us up at the Lima airport at 5:45 am. Later, he accompanied us as far as possible for the Cusco flight and met us several days later on our way from Cusco to Quito.

Sammi was with us for our tour of Lima and was great fun. We wanted to see the catacombs in the Cathedral of San Francisco. No problem, she took us there. Also, she showed us the church library which was incredible. Jack and I wanted to have lunch at a local restaurant, Rustica. Sammi and our driver dropped us off there. Sammi also went in and explained to the restaurant folks that we would need a taxi back to our hotel. Everyone took great care of us! Kathy met us at the Cusco airport, later at the Cusco train station after Machu Picchu and took us back to the Cusco airport. She was so helpful with the flight cancellations due to the rain in Cusco and thank goodness for her help getting us on later flights through to Quito.

Ruben was our guide for the Sacred Valley and Cusco. When we landed in Cusco, I asked Kathy about seeing Ilamas. So, during the Sacred Valley tour, Ruben asked if we’d like to go to the Ilama/Alpaca habitat. Yes! I really enjoyed the habitat and the weaving exhibit next door.

I think we went overtime in the Sacred Valley and Cusco, but Ruben and our driver, Mr. Jaime, cheerfully complied. I guess we had lots of questions and I really wanted to stop and try some of the local chicha. All of our hotels were excellent. We’ve been spoiled!

Other details… I used altitude sickness pills, but Jack thought coca leaves helped him.

I can only think of a couple of changes I would make… A private tour of Machu Picchu (like your tour), more shopping in either Pisac, Aguas Calientes or Cuzco… Maybe, one more night at the Sanctuary Lodge.

A couple of books I found helpful: ‘The Machu Picchu Guidebook’ by Ruth M. Wright and ‘The Last Days of the Incas’ by Kim MacQuarrie. Thanks for your help on a great trip! We’re still deciding on what the next trip will be.
