Antarctica Itinerary
This unforgettable journey takes you through the stunning Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the wild beauty of Antarctica. Starting in Puerto Williams and ending at King George Island, you’ll cross off bucket-list destinations like South Georgia, Antarctic Sound, and the Antarctic Peninsula. Along the way, you'll witness breathtaking icebergs, majestic blue glaciers, and an incredible array of wildlife, from penguins and whales to seals and soaring albatrosses.
King George Island is a stunning destination in Antarctica known for its dramatic landscapes and diverse wildlife. Visitors can explore its icy terrain, picturesque bays, and vibrant research stations.
The Antarctic Peninsula extends beyond the Antarctic Circle, reaching toward the Andes across the notorious Drake Passage. During summer, over 3,000 researchers populate the area, but in winter, that number drops to fewer than 1,000.
Antarctic Sound, also known as Iceberg Alley, offers breathtaking views of vast skies, towering icebergs, and ever-changing weather. Travelers can witness abundant wildlife, including colonies of Adelie penguins and seals resting on floating ice floes.
The Drake Passage lies between Cape Horn at the southern tip of South America and Antarctica, forming part of the Southern Ocean. It was named after the 16th-century English explorer Sir Francis Drake.
South Georgia is a remote island in the southern Atlantic, known for its rugged landscapes and abundant wildlife. It’s a haven for explorers, offering dramatic scenery and large colonies of seals, penguins, and seabirds.
At sea in Antarctica, you’ll experience breathtaking views of icebergs and glaciers as you navigate the frozen waters. The serene, icy landscapes and unique wildlife sightings make for an unforgettable journey.
Port Stanley, the only town on the Falkland Islands, is home to just over 1,200 residents, making up half the islands’ population. The islands are also home to 700,000 sheep, along with a diverse array of seabirds and elephant seals.
West Point is a small island in the Falklands with a rugged, stark beauty. Its towering tussock grass, reaching up to six feet, shelters rockhopper and Magellanic penguins, as well as a large albatross colony.
New Island is one of the top wildlife areas in the Falklands, known for its diverse and dense bird population. With majestic cliffs, sandy bays, and a research center, it’s a haven for Rockhopper penguins, South American sea lions, and many other species, perfect for nature lovers and bird watchers.
At sea in Antarctica, you’ll experience breathtaking views of icebergs and glaciers as you navigate the frozen waters. The serene, icy landscapes and unique wildlife sightings make for an unforgettable journey.
The real question isn’t how low you can go, but how far south you can venture before reaching the edge of the world. Across the Beagle Channel from Ushuaia, this remote town on Navarino Island is a mix of tin-roof houses, ice-capped peaks, and scenic beaches, with no phone lines—just penguins, geese, and albatross.
