Mandarin Oriental Hotel in San Francisco

I recently had the opportunity to spend a weekend in San Francisco at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. This property is included in our Signature Hotels & Resorts Program which provides special amenities to guests we book here.

Getting to the hotel was half the fun. After arriving at San Francisco Airport, we decided to be adventurous and take “BART” (Bay Area Transit) into the city (and also back to the airport after our visit). Disembarking at Embarcadero Station, we only had a short walk to our hotel on Sansome Street. The hotel is located close to the Financial District and near Union Square.

We arrived before noon and went to reception to drop off our luggage. Even though I did notask for early check in, our room was ready and I was advised of our Signature amenities included with our reservation. The elevator brought us up to the 41st

floor. What a spacious, Deluxe Bay View Room — and what a VIEW!

We could see the pyramid-shaped Transamerica Building right in front of us and Coit Tower, the Bay Bridge and Oakland in the distance. Directly below us we watched the comings and goings of people and cars.

I was here for a short getaway to celebrate my birthday, which was acknowledged with specialty cookies and a Happy Birthday message in Chocolate was written on the plate plus, I received hot tea brought up to our room.

We had complimentary breakfast every morning and used our Signature Food and Beverage Credit for lunch and at the Lounge. The Restaurant was on the ground floor with the bar right next to it.

Since we were within walking distance of Union Square and the Financial District, it was easy to find other restaurants, bars, shops in the area.

The staff at Mandarin Oriental was friendly and helpful, even though they were in the midst of having the property rebranded to LOEWS REGENCY SAN FRANCISCO, a Loews Hotel under new management.
