A San Francisco Weekend

AT&T Park in San Francisco
Body:

I had the nice fortune to go up to San Francisco with my husband for our 26th wedding anniversary in August of this year. Having been many times over the years, we tried different activities than the normal “touristy” things.

Our drive was lovely up the coast and we arrived at the deluxe Le Meridien San Francisco in the mid-afternoon. Located among the high rises of the Financial District at 333 Battery St., our check-in was greeted by pleasant front desk attendants. Our recently renovated Meridien suite was awaiting our arrival. Our view was out of this world!  From the Presidio sweeping all the way to a view of the Bay Bridge!

The typical August weather ensued… cloud cover till mid-afternoon, little sunny, then back to cloud cover by 3pm. Definitely jackets were a must during the cloudy times.

Location, location! Le Meridien San Francisco is located just a lovely 20-minute stroll down to The Embarcadero and gateway to Fisherman’s Wharf. Along the way we found the lovely Il Fornaio and had a wonderful anniversary dinner.

Next morning we enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant. We noticed lots of airline personnel and guessed they contract with the hotel for their layovers. It was quite lively as the flight attendants were relaxed and enjoying being taken care of.

We noticed that outside the restaurant, which is on the 2 floor, the hotel offers complimentary yoga classes. As well, the designated smoking section was also located near the yoga! Le Meridien is managed by the French, so smoking is still allowed in this area, but not inside the hotel anywhere else.

Months prior, we purchased tickets to “The Disney Family Museum” for Saturday morning. Located on the former base at the Presidio, tickets are a must, especially on a summer weekend.   This is a very unique museum, dedicated to Walt Disney. The Man. His Story. His Work. His Innovations. You will learn about Walt, the family man and his countless achievements!  Extremely well laid out on multiple floors of  former military housing/offices.

If you are a Disney buff, you MUST take the time to visit and get your tickets early as it is a timed entry.

If you walk in the opposite direction of The Embarcadero from the hotel, you will have a 40-minute stroll to AT&T Park, where we partook in a fun night at the ballpark with the Giants vs. Phillies. Great atmosphere in this ballpark, lots of food options including the famous clam chowder served in a sourdough bowl, and even Chinese food!  On top of all of this, the fans are so pleasant, even though we mentioned we were from LA!

All in all, our 2 night stay anniversary getaway in San Francisco was a delight and look forward to returning!
