Australia Cruises Are All The Rage — Time To Get Onboard

South Pacific cruises have often been found buried in the “exotic cruises” section of cruise line brochures. Visits to Australian ports were a part of longer South Pacific or world cruise itineraries, with a few Australia and New Zealand tour itineraries in the mix for good measure. Aussies have had a bit more choice, as various cruise lines have operated their (less luxurious) ships for the local market.

But Australia has come of age as a major cruise destination, with more cruise ships than ever based here seasonally. That will probably ensure competitive prices and more interesting itineraries as travelers demand to explore new ports of call.

For Australia’s summer season (our winter), Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2, Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess, Celebrity Cruises’ Century, Holland America’s Zaandam and Volendam, and Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas will all be operating here. Radiance of the Seas will also operate an unusual 34-day circumnavigation of Australia cruise.
