Costa Rica’s Resorts: Los Suenos & Buena Vista Villas

The TravelStore Honeymoon Team recently had a meeting in Costa Rica and visited several resorts there. We’re seeing a growing interest in Destination Weddings and Honeymoons to Costa Rica, which isn’t surprising given the beautiful countryside, the choice of resorts, and the variety of outdoor activities.

Los Suenos Marriott‘s location is ideal. Manuel Antonio National Park is a one-hour drive away, and the quaint town of Jaco, a popular surfing spot, is nearby for nightlife and shopping. This resort is surrounded by the La Ignana Golf Course, acres of rain forest and overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

It is ideal for ocean fishing, surfing and golf. I particularly enjoyed the Marriott because of its ideal location. It truly has it all: a one-stop property surrounded by 1000 acres of tropical rainforest and nestled between that an 18-hole golf course and the waters of the Pacific. It is a perfect property for families.

When you are around the adult pool it is quiet and serene and you have no idea there are children on property. The resort does a great job making the adult area and children’s area totally separate. For the active guest there is tennis, volleyball, and jogging trails — all on property. They offer yoga by the sea, and have one of the largest pool areas in Costa Rica. The spa treatment rooms offer views of the rainforest and the ocean.

Los Suenos is family resort with private areas and pools for adults only. They offer special honeymoon amenities including a private dinner for two with fabulous views of the sunset. We work with their certified wedding planners to coordinate the perfect wedding event.

Buena Vista Villas is a luxury retreat in a gated community on a ridge above the Manuel Antonio coastline. Once you travel through the gates you feel total isolation in the secluded lush rainforest, yet you are just minutes

from the quaint local town, handy for shopping and night life and alternative dining if you chose to dine off property. There is a short stroll to their exclusive sandy beach, with wait staff, kayaks and boogie boards.

Each bungalow offers 360-degree views of the ocean and rain forest. All bungalows have an outdoor rain shower, private balcony with a hammock, and a kitchen. Each unit has one king or two queen beds. They offer a private chef who will come and cook dinner to order in the privacy of your bungalow. They do offer a family area with a separate pool for children and adults, but I did not feel it was particularly conducive for a long stay for small children. The spa offers yoga, massage and facial services.

All land and water activities in the area can be arranged with the concierge, including scuba, surfing, rafting, fishing, and snorkeling.

Buena Vista Villas’ secluded beach makes for the perfect back drop for a wedding for small weddings of up to 50 guests. We can help arrange your destination wedding, and coordinate the guidance and advice needed to plan the ceremony down to the smallest details, as well as handle arrangements for your guests.
