East Africa Safari

Our East African safari adventure began in Nairobi, Kenya, with a one night stay at the famous Fairmont the Norfolk, before taking a morning flight to Fairmont Mara Safari Club, our home for three nights. Landing on an airstrip, we were met with traditional song and dance by the Maasai Villagers. What a wonderful greeting and the people are so happy and friendly!

Our first game drive was right from the plane, our jeep had plenty of viewing options. The vast terrain was both magical and spiritual to me. We ended our drive at a clearing where a bonfire, wine and sunset awaited.

Mara Safari Club is surrounded by the Mara River. You can hear the hippos in the water outside the tent accommodations, which were comfortable and sufficient. Our early morning drive was amazing as we saw many animals up-close and personal. We went on four safari game drives and saw many giraffes, a variety of gazelles, zebras, parades of elephants, and young lions, including the Big Five.

After another short flight we arrived at the world famous Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club. This beautiful piece of heaven sits in the middle of the Northern and Southern hemisphere on the equator. The tranquil 100 acre grounds has beautiful views of Mount Kenya. The property also includes a riding stable and wild-life orphanage.

Our final evening was spent back at The Fairmont Norfolk. This well preserved 1900’s hotel is located in the city center. The lovely grounds, swimming pool, heath club and range of restaurants is the perfect place to begin or end your African holiday!

An incredible experience of a lifetime!
