New River Cruise in Myanmar

Feb 13, 2013 Avatar TravelStore

Demand for travel to Myanmar (Burma) is understandably sky high right now. We’re happy to report that Belmond, one of our preferred partners, will launch a new riverboat on the Ayeyarwady (Irrawady) river, starting in July, 2013. The new river cruise will purportedly be the best in Burma, and the ship will be called Orcaella. Oracella will be very special for various reasons.

Belmond will offer itineraries from Yangon (Rangoon) all the way to Bhamo (near the border with China) and Homalin (near the Indian border), thus offering a much wider range of 7-11 day itineraries into new regions of Burma. Most Burmese riverboats run between Bagan and Mandalay – Orcaella will offer many new options. Also, the riverboat will only carry 50 passengers in 25 superior staterooms, including cabins with private balconies and floor to ceiling glass. This 4-deck ship will upgrade the river cruise menu in Burma, and will be much sought after by travelers wishing to visit Burma’s interior. Our travel agents are now taking reservations on Orcaella.

The Oracella will join Orient Express’ current vessel, The Road to Mandalay.
