Tutka Wilderness Lodge, Alaska

I was going for a short time and chose Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge  in Alaska for 3 nights.

We flew into Anchorage Sunday afternoon and made the 4-hour drive to Homer where we spent the night at the Land’s End Resort. This is probably the best in town and has the most enviable location at the very end of the Homer Spit. The hotel is very basic but is clean and had a decent restaurant looking out on the bay.

The only way to Tutka is by water taxi, float plane or helicopter. Included in the package price is the water taxi.

The Lodge is lovely but very much on the rustic side. Accommodations are in cottages scattered around the property. There is also one building with two units. You cannot choose which unit you would like as they assign them according to who is coming in and what units they need for families or larger groups. Depending on how many families are there they can accommodate up to 22 people.

The main house has a living room area, a large dining room, and the kitchen. The food was wonderful and the packages are all-inclusive with 3 meals and whatever snacks you want during the day. Wine and beer is included as well and served at dinner.

Activities are also included. They have kayaks & row boats. The Lodge does have their own larger motor boat which they use for sightseeing and fishing. They will also use it to drop you off for various hikes depending on your desired level. There is fairly easy hiking around the Lodge.

They cater to you constantly. Somebody goes with you on anything you choose to do. They also include a massage during your stay and have a wonderful massage therapist there right now.

It’s a fun escape from the real world. Like camp for adults!
