Amazing Thailand Adventure: Sawadee!

My amazing trip to Thailand began with an overnight flight on China Airlines. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service. I traveled in premium economy and business class. I highly recommend upgrading when the budget allows. Premium is a minimal charge and worth every penny. There was much more room than in economy class. Business seats recline into a full bed.

Arriving in Bangkok, our team of ten was met by our local guide and a driver. After checking into our hotel for the next three nights, we were treated to a traditional Thai massage, just the thing needed after a long flight. Bangkok is the capital city, full of rich culture and beautiful people. Here you will find many sacred temples including the Royal Temple, famous for the enormous 5-ton solid gold Buddha and the reclining Buddha at Wat Pho. It is also home to the Royal Family.

The traffic is very heavy in Bangkok, one way of getting around is to take the local transportation “tuk tuk,” an open taxi of sort. Another way to travel is by long tail boat on the river. You can get to the temples and even some hotels traveling this way.

Our next stop was Krabi-Tran, a short 1.5 hrs. flight. In route to Anantara Si Kao, our home for the night, we visited the Hot Springs waterfall and Emerald Pond. A welcoming swim was needed after the short hike in the very warm climate.

Krabi is known for its beauty. A full day tour to Phi Phi Island (famous for the movie “The Beach”) crystal clear waters, snorkeling, and swimming along the way.

Phuket, a lively town with beautiful beaches and Islands to explore and discover. A visit to the night market is a must with great shopping, music entertainment and interesting people watching. Accommodations range from 3 to 5 star properties. Anantara Phuket Villas is perfect for honeymooners. Each villa with a private pool was our home for the night.

A cooking class is a must for all foodies. I learned how to make several dishes at the famous Blue Elephant Thai cooking school.

Complete with take-home herbs and receipts. My favorite is Mango with sticky rice and coconut milk!

The best time to travel to Thailand is from November to March. The weather is less humid.
