A Whirlwind of Love and Luxury: My Paris & Berlin Adventure

September 23, 2023, marked a special day in my life – the day my sister tied the knot with the love of her life in the enchanting city of Berlin, Germany. As a bridesmaid, I had the honor of standing by her side on this joyous occasion, and little did I know that this trip would become a memorable journey filled with love, luxury, and unforgettable experiences in both Paris and Berlin.

My adventure began in the City of Love itself, Paris, a romantic prelude for the adventure to unfold. Landing in this iconic city, I was instantly swept away by the charming ambiance, and my heart brimmed with anticipation for the upcoming nuptials. Traveling with my dad, we embarked on a journey that would take us from the grand boulevards of Paris to the picturesque landscapes of Normandy before culminating in the vibrant streets of Berlin.

I had the pleasure of reuniting with one of my Pepperdine housemates, Natalie, who is a professional opera singer in Paris with her husband who is also a professional opera singer. It was so good to catch up as we have not seen each other in over 8 years. She loves living in Paris, and I am so excited to see her one day on the big stage as an opera singer. Go, Natalie!

Our days in Paris were nothing short of magical. We indulged in the epitome of luxury, staying at a boutique hotel overlooking the Eiffel Tower. The view from our window was like something out of a fairy tale, and it set the tone for the entire trip. Parisian cuisine, with its rich flavors and exquisite presentation, enchanted our taste buds. Dining at quaint cafes and delicious restaurants was a culinary adventure.

Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without exploring its iconic landmarks. We strolled along the Seine River, marveled at the Louvre’s art treasures, and even took a river cruise down the Seine River ending at the Eiffel Tower with an iconic rainbow after the short rainstorm. Dining with my dad, my grandparents, and my sister while on the Seine River cruise was a treat and a real highlight of our Parisian experience.

Leaving the bustling streets of Paris behind, my dad and I embarked on a scenic drive to the serene region of Normandy, which was a journey through history. The picturesque countryside was a stark contrast to the vibrant Parisian energy but equally captivating. We had lunch at a charming countryside inn that exuded rustic charm.

Normandy is not only known for its scenic beauty but also for its historical significance. We paid our respects at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, a sobering reminder of the sacrifices made during World War II. My dad’s two uncles were buried together here, we had a private ceremony honoring their sacrifice. This was a special moment to have with my dad since he never knew his uncles since they died a year before he was born. This experience left a profound impact on us, underscoring the importance of remembrance.

After our enchanting sojourn through Normandy, it was time to head to Berlin for the main event – my sister’s wedding. This was a wedding to remember as the excitement was evident as I reunited with my family, who had also flown in for the celebration from all corners of the world. Berlin welcomed us with open arms, offering a vibrant mix of history, culture, and modernity.

The wedding venue was nothing short of spectacular, set against the backdrop of Berlin’s historic city with the wedding at Atelier Rooftop. As a bridesmaid, I stood by my sister’s side, beaming with pride and joy as she exchanged vows with her beloved husband. The love that filled the air was almost tangible, and the moment she threw her bouquet, I caught it! Tradition said that the lucky catcher would be the next to wed, and the prospect of my own future wedding filled me with excitement. “Ring by Spring” as they say at Pepperdine, here I come! 😊

The festivities continued with a reception that can only be described as a culinary extravaganza. Berlin’s food scene proved to be diverse and delightful, with everything from traditional German dishes to international cuisines on offer. The night was filled with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt toasts as we celebrated my sister’s union with her soulmate.

As I reflect on my unforgettable journey to Paris, Normandy, and Berlin in September 2023, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the experiences I shared with my family. From the romantic allure of Paris to the poignant history of Normandy and the jubilant celebration of my sister’s wedding in Berlin, this trip was a perfect blend of love and luxury.
