Venture into the heart of Alaska’s wilderness by air, water, and ice! This is a rare opportunity to experience the Taku Glacier from all possible perspectives. Begin your adventure with an aerial exploration of the breathtaking Juneau Icefield and surrounding Tongass National Forest before touching down at the isolated Taku Point. Continue with an hour-long airboat expedition of the area and experience close-up views of the Taku Glacier as you cruise its 5-mile (8 kilometer) terminus. Next, fly up to the surface of the icefield and explore the pristine features of the area’s largest glacier by foot. With viewing opportunities of the glacier’s dramatic face and deep blue crevasses, this is sure to be a truly unforgettable Alaskan experience.

Please Note:
Dress warmly and in layers, as the temperature on the glacier is often colder than you are used to. You will be outfitted with a glacier over-boot prior to embarking on your trip, please wear rubber soled shoes such as a light hiking boot or athletic shoes to insure a good fit. Don’t forget your sunglasses, scarf, hat and gloves, and remember to bring your camera with space for lots of pictures! These tours are for EVERYONE, no minimum fitness level is required.

Juneau: Private Guided Brown Bear Viewing at Pack Creek - (6 hours)

The Pack Creek Brown Bear Sanctuary is located 30 air miles outside of Juneau on Admiralty Island. Accessed by floatplane, the native Tlingit people call this impressive island "Kootznoowoo," meaning "Fortress of the Bear."  Indeed, Admiralty Island is home to the highest concentration of brown bears in the world; more than all the lower 48 states combined. Nearly 100 miles long, with 700 miles of saltwater shoreline that encompass its roughly one million acres, this verdant gem of old-growth rainforest graces the northern part of the Southeast Alaskan panhandle's Inside Passage. On this excursion, you’ll enjoy the Pack Creek Brown Bear Sanctuary under the expertise of your private guide. The viewing area is approximately 60 yards from the creek, and we keep our distance to ensure true wilderness experiences going forward. Juneau: Fortress of the Bears Kayak (8-hours)
Highlights:
On this adventure, you’ll head to Admiralty Island via floatplane and kayak—making for a journey as exciting as the bear-viewing itself. Juneau: Private Dog Sled Tour - (3 hours 10 mins)
Highlights:
This adventure offers a spectacular helicopter flight combined with the opportunity to partake in the quintessential Alaskan experience—dog-sledding. Flying over the Juneau Ice Field to the dog camp is remarkable in its own right; soon after takeoff, glacier-carved mountains will unfold in front of your eyes. When you arrive, you will immediately meet not just your guides—all qualified Iditarod mushers—but also 80 eager Alaskan huskies. Over a kennel tour and time with your guides, you’ll learn about driving the dogs, and hear unique personal accounts of the Iditarod and other backcountry adventures. You will have ample photo opportunities and can dress up in original Iditarod Trail gear and finishing bibs. Finally, feel the excitement as the team is hooked up, and then hit the trail. Imagine yourself standing on the runners of a dog sled with a team of huskies loping across the ancient snowfields nestled among the peaks of the vast Juneau Icefield. You will learn very quickly the lure of the trail and the thrill of driving a dog team. Juneau: Private Mendenhall Glacier Trek & Climb - (7.5 hours)
Highlights:
This adventure involves hiking, glacier trekking, and ice climbing as you trace the path of glacial succession on the Mendenhall Glacier. It features close-up views of ice caves, streams, crevasses and other unique glacial formations, with professional guides providing expert instruction and interpretation. The trip begins with a three-mile trail hike through the rainforest and along Mendenhall Lake; with an elevation gain of 500 feet and sections that take you off the beaten path, it will take approximately two hours to reach the glacier. Once there, you will be outfitted in trekking gear. Choose to spend your time trekking on the glacier looking at the stunning glacial formations, ice climbing, or rappelling on more vertical terrain. Guides instruct you step by step on how to trek in crampons and use an ice axe on glacial terrain. With the use of ice axes on a beginner slope, they will teach you the basic techniques of climbing up and down on an ice wall. Be ready for a great adventure!

Juneau: Helicopter Glacer Trek - (4 hours 15 minutes)
Highlights:
This adventure involves a helicopter ride over the Juneau Ice Field followed by a two-hour hike during which a professional mountaineering guide will teach you the basics of trekking on the icy terrain and give you an understanding of the glacier’s features. From the vantage point of the helicopter, you will immediately gain perspective on the grandeur of the Juneau Icefield and glaciers. Upon landing, you will learn the use of mountaineering gear (ice axe, hard-shell boots, crampons, harness) as your guide leads you through the icescape of the glacier. The physical activity will be interspersed with detailed explanations of the glacier environment and surrounding area. No prior experience is required, but you will need to be comfortable walking two miles over uneven, sometimes steep, always spectacular terrain.

Highlights:
Discover the diversity and grandeur of the Southeast Discover the diversity and grandeur of the Southeast Alaska landscape via helicopter and foot as you fly over the temperate rainforests and granite peaks that surround the Alaska’s capital city, 
then take a one-hour walk on a glacier. Your pilot will choose a landing site on one of the 36 glaciers that flow from the 1500-square-mile Juneau Icefield. During this non-strenuous interpretive walk, your guide will provide detailed descriptions of the glacier’s features and allow ample time for photo opportunities. Trekking poles and crampons provide superb balance and traction, enabling you to travel easily on the gently rolling glacial terrain. The amount of walking is moderate and covers relatively flat to rolling terrain. The views are unforgettable.

Arriving at a remote stream, you may walk for a mile or more to reach the day’s preferred bear viewing location. Your naturalist photography guide will lead you to local photo hot spots while sharing tips and techniques to help enhance your images. You'll enjoy a professional instructional slide show in the vehicle en route to the Mendenhall Glacier. Your photo guide works to inspire and educate while leading you to explore the Trail of Time capturing the natural history of the lacier. Walk an easy permitted trail through the shelter of the forest to photograph the signs of glaciation. 

Your guide assists in having you step away from the crowds and capture the area`s hidden places before stopping to shoot the glacier itself. The itinerary is personalized and kept flexible in order to allow for those unexpected events that often become the highlights of an Alaskan experience.

Next you will board a safari vessel for an unforgettable journey as you learn about life and living in the waterways of Stephens Passage. These boats are designed to get you up close and personal with the environment. The sheltered cabin has large panel windows that open from within to give you unrestricted views while keeping you dry on a rainy day. Padded arm rests fold over the sills to provide a steady platform for photographing marine life and shoreline activity. These are the only crafts of their kind in Southeast Alaska, custom built specifically for marine wildlife photography; there is simply no better vantage available.
On this tour the star of the show is different every day: Wildflowers in bloom, soaring eagles, spawning salmon, light on a foggy glacier, migratory birds, bubble feeding humpback whales, curious sea lions, sleek killer whales, and even lumbering black bears are possibilities. Your guide will provide photo coaching while helping you take full advantage of the opportunities each day presents. Come and learn about Juneau's natural wonders and colorful history as you strive to capture that decisive moment in the medium worth a thousand words.

Inclusions: All transportation to and from the cruise terminal and a deli-style picnic lunch with assorted juices and sodas. Stable boats are covered and have large windows that open up for unrestricted viewing. Boats are restroom equipped and have a hydrophone on board to listen to the underwater sounds of area whales.

Juneau: Private Kayak Paddle & Trek (8-hours)
Highlights:

Experience the magnificent Mendenhall Glacier and Lake from a series of unparalleled vantage points with your own private guide on Southeast Alaska’s singular multi-sport glacial adventure!
Begin at the edge of Mendenhall Lake for this family-friendly adventure. After your gear outfitting, kayak orientation, and safety briefing, point your bow toward the awe-inspiring glacier ahead and paddle on this silt-rich lake with glowing blue icebergs of all shapes and sizes and reflections of the grand peaks of the Coastal Mountain Range. Mendenhall Lake offers the unique experience of paddling near icebergs, nesting cliffs, and giant waterfalls. Don’t forget to look toward the shorelines, mountains, and sky around you for possible wildlife sightings – mountain goats, black bear, porcupine, river otter, beaver, eagles, loons, and Arctic terns all inhabit this area!

Upon reaching the beach landing site near the glacier’s edge, trade your paddles for trekking poles. Leave your sea legs behind and venture to the glacier and onto the ice, taking a journey through time as your expert guides help you explore accessible features such as crevasses, ice caves, moulins, melt water streams, and pools. Based on your group’s interest, pace, time restrictions, and ice conditions, top-roped ice climbing on a near-vertical face may also be a possible component of your glacier exploration! After your trek, return to your boats and paddle across the lake once more, allowing the visually stunning experience to wash over you before returning to the lake’s edge.

Note: Minimum age to participate is 12 years old. Children must be in good physical condition to paddle a tandem kayak with an adult, and must wear a shoe size of 2 or larger to fit crampons.

Juneau: Private Glacier Trek (9-hours)

Highlights:
Hike through history as you make your way through the Tongass Rainforest to the Mendenhall Glacier. Follow the path of the glacier’s recession until you reach the edge, then learn how to ice trek onto the glacier’s surface. Spend the day exploring and learning about the whole glacial ecosystem while hiking 9 miles (14.5 kilometers) round-trip and exploring the ice features up close, including possibly ice caves, moulins, conduits, crevasses, and more!
