Active hikers and cyclists can enjoy Bermuda’s Railway Trail, along an 18-mile route of a one-time railroad that circled the island, offering beautiful views and bereft of motorized vehicles. Hikers can start at either end, or join in anywhere along the route. Or explore the 12-acre Cooper Island Nature Reserve in the southeast of Bermuda, with its panoramic views from the Wildlife Observation Tower.

Background
Off Bermuda, there are tiny red organisms (Foraminifera) that grow beneath the coral reefs. When they die, they fall mix in the ocean with coral and shells resulting in the sand turning pink when this crushed mixture washes onto the beach.
